The Certificate in Christian Ministry is an accredited entry level program for church leaders who have completed S4. There are 8 terms which are spread over the duration of about 2 1/2 years from beginning to completion. Programme Description

The Certificate in Theology Programme is designed for students who are already serving in church ministry. The aim of the programme is to enhance the student’s theoretical understanding of God and ministry and to improve their practical application in their communities. A wide range of current thought, tools, and skills will be accessible to the students to help them produce mature and profitable citizens in their communities.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

The objectives of the Certificate in Theology programme are as follows:

  1. Instruct students, through word and deed, that the Bible is not only useful for knowledge, but also should be a transformative instrument in our lives and our communities.
  2. Train and expose our students in the various methods of theological interpretation, both current and historical.
  3. Assist our students to be able to discern and interpret the ever-increasing complexity of our world today.
  4. Shape the students to be effective and practical in meeting the needs and issues found in their respective communities.
  5. Produce proficient practitioners of the ministry of the Gospel.

By the end of the programme successful students will attain these outcomes:

  1. Practice and teach Biblical exposition and apply the lessons thereof to one’s own personal life and ministry.
  2. Analyse, interpret, and evaluate current trends and practices in the theological community; as well as answering the perplexing questions of their church members, neighbours, and organizations.
  3. Investigate and identify issues in their churches and communities and apply relevant counselling with the pursuant appropriate outcomes.
  4. Illustrate relative proficiency in the practice and verbal communication of the tools and skills learned while under instruction at Uganda Baptist Seminary.

Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into the Certificate in Theology programme is S4 and 3 passes or P7 plus a certificate course.
