Principal: Dr. Anthony Shelton

Anthony first came to Uganda in 1995 to work with Baptist youth across Uganda. He has been in Uganda with his family since 2006. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Master’s in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Philosophical Theology from Princeton Seminary. He is currently a professor and administrator serving along with his family under the IMB Baptist Mission of Uganda. His favorite thing to do is open Scripture with students, and he loves teaching Biblical Studies, Theology, and Philosophy.
Deputy Principal of Academic Affairs: Mr. Eric Lockhart
Eric serves as a senior lecturer and administrator at UBS. He holds a MDiv in Christian Ministry and a ThM in Applied Theology, both from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina. He served as a pastor in the USA for fourteen years before he and his wife and four boys moved to Uganda in 2018 to serve under the IMB Baptist Mission of Uganda. His favorite subjects to teach are Hermeneutics and Homiletics. Eric also enjoys sports, reading, fishing and hanging out with his family.
Deputy Principal of Finance and Administration: Mr. Moses Mulago Walwema

Moses serves as an Associate Professor and administrator at UBS. He has served since 1998. He holds a Masters in Theological Studies (MTS) from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He has spent over 31 years in the Ministry. He is a happily married man with two sons and two daughters. His favorite subjects to teach are Ethics and Marriage. Moses enjoys jogging in his leisure time.
Dean of Students: Mr. James Senyonjjo Okurut

Senyonjjo James Okurut serves as Dean of Students and a lecturer at UBS. He has served since 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Makerere University specializing in Communication, a Bachelor of Theology from Uganda Baptist Seminary, and Master of Theological Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been involved in ministry for over 20 years and is an associate pastor of a local church. He is married to Prossy and they currently have two girls and one son. He likes teaching Ministry Foundations, The Gospel Project, and Old Testaments Surveys. James enjoys learning new things, playing and watching football, volleyball, and watching movies in his leisure time.
Director of Library Science: Mr. Robert Masereka
Robert serves as a senior lecturer at UBS. He holds a Bachelor’s in Library Science and a Master of Theological Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He enjoys teaching world religions, Preaching Lab, and Ministry Foundations labs, and previously taught in the English department in Research and Writing. Robert serves the faculty and students in a well-maintained library. He also serves as a pastor of a local church.
Registrar: Mrs. Rebekah Lockhart
Rebekah serves as an assistant lecturer and administrator at UBS. She holds a Bachelor of Science in History Education from Williams Baptist University, Arkansas. She is a happily married woman with four sons. Her favorite subject to teach is Reformation History. Rebekah enjoys watching and playing volleyball, baking, reading, and crocheting baby blankets in her leisure time.
Dr. Misti Shelton
Misti serves as Professor at UBS. She first came to Uganda in 1996 to teach at an international school in Kampala. She has been serving in Uganda with her husband and daughters since 2006. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Multi-disciplinary Education with specialization in Reading and ESL instruction from Wayland Baptist University in Texas; a Master of Theological Studies and a Doctorate of Education from Southeastern Baptist Seminary in North Carolina. She teaches Research & Writing and Biblical studies at UBS, and enjoys supporting curriculum and instructional design.
Mr. Roy Kasika
Roy is a Lecturer at UBS. He has a Bachelor’s in Theology degree from UBS, and a Master’s in Theological Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He began teaching Research and Writing, and his favorite areas to teach currently are in Theology and Ministry Foundations. Roy enjoys being part of leading worship on drums and guitar, and in the production of a Christian podcast.
Ms. Maddie Phillips
Maddie is an assistant lecturer in Research & Writing and Biblical studies. Maddie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Literature and Linguistics, and is currently working toward a Master’s in Theological Studies. She lived in Kaabong–northern Uganda–for two years, where she fell in love with Uganda, before moving to serve at UBS. She loves teaching Biblical studies and sharing the Gospel among women in a community in Jinja with many Karamajong women.
Mrs. Amanda Nunn
Amanda came to East Africa in 2023 and taught high school in Nairobi for 3 years. She joined Uganda Baptist Seminary in 2026 to teach English and Theological Studies. She was married to James for 31 years and has one daughter in the U.S. She retired after15 years of teaching in North Carolina, USA. Amanda has a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University, teaching credentials from North Carolina Wesleyan University, a Master of Divinity in Global Studies from Liberty University, and is completing a Master’s in Biblical Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Amanda enjoys working alongside churches and training in evangelism, discipleship, youth ministry, and women’s ministry. She is so thankful to serve East Africa and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to make God known (Hab. 2:14).

PROFESSORS EMERITI
Rev. Dr. Clive Jarvis

Rev. Dr. Clive Jarvis served as Professor of Church History at UBS from 2007 to his retirement in 2025. He was Deputy Principal for Academic Affairs from 2015-2020. On retirement the seminary honoured him by appointing him Professor Emeritus. He is a graduate of London, Lancaster and Glasgow Universities and an accredited minister of the Baptist Union of Great Britain. He is married to Carol, now also retired from her post as Senior Lecturer at the Open University in the UK. They have two children, Abigail and Nathan who is married to Charis, and one grandson Isaac.
Mr. Odonyo Agustav Ogwok

Agustav recently retired from UBS after 26 years as a lecturer and administrator. He has served since 1998 after graduating with the very first Diploma class. He holds a Masters in Theological Studies (MTS) from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He has spent over 38 years in the ministry. He is a happily married man with five sons, one daughter, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild so far. His favorite subjects to teach have been Preaching, Marriage & Family, and Evangelism. Agustav enjoys reading and telling stories in his leisure time.
Dr. Vernon Sivage

Vernon and Sandi Sivage lived in Rwanda and Uganda for almost 30 years. They joined the faculty of UBS in 1998 and also served with the Baptist Mission of Uganda, IMB. Vernon holds a B.S. from Texas Tech University, a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a D.Min from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Vernon enjoyed teaching Greek, Eschatology, and Biblical Studies. Sandi served as the Business and Finance Officer of UBS. They served in East Africa with the IMB in Rwanda and Uganda beginning in 1978. They retired from active missionary service in 2015.
Reverend Jack Frost

Jack and Evelyn Frost served in eastern and southern Africa for almost 30 years. After completing his seminary training and pastoring a baptist church, Jack answered a call to missions in Uganda. He was asked by the IMB Baptist Mission of Uganda to begin a seminary in Jinja in 1986. He holds a B.S. from Ohio State University, and a M.Div from The Southern Baptist Seminary. He retired from active missionary service in 2015. Evelyn has served as a medical missionary with IMB for 32 years in Africa, beginning as a journeyman in Rhodesia, then as a career missionary in Tanzania, before coming to Uganda in 1986. The Frosts have two adult daughters in the U.S. who claim Ugandan as ‘home’.
Mr. and Mrs. Dallas and Charlotte Abendroth

Charlotte grew up in Kenya from early childhood, and moved together with Dallas to Jinja where they both taught at UBS. Dallas loved to teach Biblical Studies and Greek as well as doctrine classes. Charlotte taught Biblical Studies and had a particular interest in Eschatology. They retired from UBS in 2015, and have since both passed into glory with the Lord they served so faithfully.
