Get Involved

There are many ways to contribute to Uganda Baptist Seminary.

Prayer: We ask that you partner with us by lifting up the faculty, staff, and students in your prayers. This is a God sized task that we are facing and we need your support and God’s touch in this endeavor.

Teachers: We teach over 230 courses every year. This requires painstaking coordination in identifying qualified people to teach. The school hosts many guest lecturers every year to help us with this enterprise. If you are interested in coming to teach during a short trip or for a longer commitment, please contact the DPAA at e.lockhart@ugandabaptistseminary.org.

We have several open job requests through the IMB. These jobs are fully funded for qualified members of SBC churches:

  1. Barnabas Initiative
    • Create an alumni database. You will track down our over 1,000 graduates and log the status and stories of these alumni. The purpose of the database will be to create an UBS Alumni Association that will connect back to UBS, hold retreats and conferences, generally encourage the alumni, and help UBS improve itself based on feedback with its former students.
    • You will interview every current student and discover where they live, their family situations, their ministry challenges and successes, etc.
    • You will travel with a faculty member of UBS to various regions within East Africa as you gather information for the alumni database. During your assignment, your goal is to visit as many alumni as possible by region and in their various contexts.
    • During your travels you will also recruit and interview new students for UBS.
    • You will work with the Director of Communications in getting your stories onto our media footprint.
    • Serve in Jinja and in the neighboring communities by engaging in relationship building, evangelism, discipleship, and human needs efforts in addition to your main assignment. There is a wide range of opportunities in the community.
  2. Director of Communications
    • Enhance and update our website: www.ugandabaptistseminary.org.
    • Make regular posts on our FB page and website.
    • Create and upload video interviews with students and staff.
    • Produce regular newsletters.
    • Strengthen ties with existing donors by showing thanksgiving and sharing updates.
    • Expand the donor base by reaching out to new churches and individuals.
    • Serve in Jinja and in the neighboring communities by engaging in relationship building, evangelism, discipleship, and human needs efforts in addition to your main assignment. There is a wide range of opportunities in the community.
  3. Seminary Professor
    • Teach two intensive courses per term. These courses will run from one to four weeks. While our faculty members do have preferred subjects, all our faculty to some extent teach across various academic disciplines.
    • Connect with students outside of the classroom. This could be during meals and tea times or during office hours or during evening or fellowships.
    • Mentor new and upcoming faculty members. As we teach, it becomes clear that some of our students have the potential to become future faculty members. It is part of our role to encourage and harness this potential.
    • Work in partnership with current faculty members. We want you to bond with our faculty members: get to know their families and stories, break bread with them, travel with them to various conferences and retreats, etc.
    • Potentially take on administrative roles and tasks. We are in the long process of transitioning UBS into more of a nationally run institution. We want to foster our current and future faculty to take greater responsibility for the running of the school. This will involve accountable modeling of administrative roles as we look to hand off these duties to our national partners.
    • Spouses will be able to use their gifting and experience in various ways to support the ministry of the Seminary.

Financially: UBS relies upon the generous donations from our partners around the world. The students sacrificially contribute about 20-35% of their costs to attend this school. The balance of those costs are provided by faithful givers. The easiest way to contribute is to send your donation through our mission parent organization – The International Mission Board. The link to give online is here: UBS Give Link. If you would like to contribute in a different manner please contact us at info@ugandabaptistseminary.org.
