ABTEN East and Central Regional Meeting

7^th – 8^th July, 2026

The ABTEN East and Central Regional Meeting 2026 brought together 57 pastors, church leaders, and ministry partners from across East and Central Africa for a rich time of worship, fellowship, and theological reflection on Baptist identity and ministry in the African context. 

The conference featured eight plenary sessions led by respected church and ministry leaders from across the region. Topics explored key Baptist distinctives and their application within African cultures and contexts. Presenters addressed subjects including the authority of Scripture, the priesthood of all believers, church leadership, the autonomy of the local church, soul liberty, regenerate church membership, the ordinances of the church, and the relationship between church and state.

Speakers challenged attendees to consider how biblical convictions can be faithfully lived out in diverse African settings, including multi-faith communities, cultures shaped by strong social structures, and environments where churches face varying degrees of political pressure. Discussions emphasized the importance of maintaining a clear Baptist identity while fostering cooperation among churches and encouraging active participation in ministry by all believers.

Beyond the formal sessions, the meeting provided valuable opportunities for fellowship over shared meals, strengthening relationships among church leaders and ministry workers from different countries. These connections continue to support collaboration, mutual encouragement, and the advancement of gospel ministry throughout East and Central Africa.
